Monday, July 26, 2010 4:16 PM     Term 3 Week 5 Learning Log Monday We had our Literature lesson as per normal. Before that, Mr Chua called up some people and lectured them about their assignments given that they might not have handed it up. After that, he distribute a piece of homework on Elvis Presley Scene 2. It must be handed in next Monday and put it in the tray given before the lesson start. Mr Chua then showed us the past videos that our senior did for their Shakespeare performances. Firstly he showed a video on Merchant of Venice. My opinions is that overall, it is not that bad but the speech is not that clear enough to hear. Next, Mr Chua showed us a video on Romeo and Juliet. My opinion is that the speech is clearly enough to be heard and the way they put up their acting, it is not boring to watch it. It's quite impressive. Overall, I think that all of us can do the performances well if we co-operate with each other and it's just the matter whether you want to do it or do not want. Thursday Basically, Mr Chua continued on the Elvis Presley scene 3. Some of us took down notes so that we could understand better for the story. Well, it is also being suggested by Mr Chua and it just up to us whether we want to jot it down or sitting there just listening to it. Anyway, its kind of sad to know that Elvis Presley is in a lot of pain as the ones he loved left him. It is also absolutely sad to know that when you are away from the ones you loved on some outstation kind of thing, and then the ones you loved passed away. This is what happened to Elvis Presley. He was in the US Army and he got to know that his mother passed away. He felt kind of regret. This is because he wasn't there. He wasn't there not just for the funeral but also being by his mother side at her very last moment of her life. I think that regretting at the first moment doesn't feel that much pain compared to regretting at the last moment. Sunday, July 25, 2010 7:02 PM   Term 3 week 4 learning logMonday We continued on our literature lesson. Again, Mr Chua told us not to refer to our handout. He then called up some people to answer that he will asked. I already prepared myself to answer it in case I was called up again. Mr Chua asked some questions based on scene 2 younger Presley. This time round, for me, I think that the ones who are being called up, most of them are able to answer it or even got the main view of the question which is not that bad. Overall I think that the exercise of not referring to our handout also improve our memory to remember much or so. Thursday We did not have our literature that day as Mr Chua was not in. We had a relief teacher called Mr Amirul. We were told to do our own things. Some of us choose to talk softly among their friends which is still acceptable. 6:50 PM  Term 3 week 3 Learning Log Monday We had our Literature lesson as per normal. Mr Chua told us not to refer to our handout about Elvis Presley as he wanted to test us on Elvis Presley stories which is about Older Presley that we read on the previous lesson. Some of us were called up which include me. I was called up as teacher thought that I seem bored but I was listening to the ones who being called up of their opinions. I was also thinking and are trying my best to make my own sentence in case I was called up. But it's okay. Next time round, I will put in my best to look attentive in class. After that, we were given a piece of homework on 'AYLT' which are to be hand up next lesson. I think that the exercise of not referring to the handout are useful as we are able to remember abit or so of the story line of it. Thursday We continued on 'AYLT' scene 1, younger Presley. This time round, the boys are told to read on Younger Presley while the girls were told to read on Gladys Presley, mother of Elvis. After reading it, we learnt something new from it such as 'john' in America are known as toilet. I think that during the time, they are poor as Younger Presley said that there ain't a Cadillac on the block and Gladys said that there's barely a car on the block and they don't live in Cadillac country. I also think that Elvis and his mother relationship are close as Elvis seem to be devoted to his mother. This is because his mother wanted chandeliers in that house which I think refers to the mansion and then Younger Presley said that every room,even the broom cupboard and the john and garage too will have chandeliers, open the fridge,little light will be a chandelier. That's it for now. 6:21 PM   Term 3 week 2 Learning LogMonday We didn't had our lesson on Monday 5 July due to Youth day,the day before. Thus, we missed a lesson of Literature. I think that if we didn't missed any of our literature lesson, we are able to cover up more on the topics we are learning. Thursday We continued learning about Elvis Presley.We learnt about the 'Are you lonesome tonight', Scene 1, Older Presley. The boys were told to read the part on Older Presley while the girls were told to read the part on Redhead, Elvis girlfriend. Overall I think that Redhead might not have been important to Elvis as she was not given a proper name. I also think that from the scene 1, Elvis seems depressed as most of his love ones such as Priscilla Beaulieu, Lisa Marie and his cronies,Duke and Gerry left him and he might have thought that Redhead wanted to leave him too. 5:37 PM   Term 3 week 1 Learning LogMonday We had a long break of holiday. Literature was resumed as per normal. Mr Chua told us about the chapters we must learnt for our CA2 and SA2[EOY]. This also includes our Shakespeare performance for our SA2[EOY]. Mr Chua then told us about our Shakespeare performance. We were then separated into groups such as Alpha,Bravo,Charlie and so on. I am in Alpha. My group members are Pei Qing, Regine, Syafiq, Amy, Zheng Xue, Pei Qi, Er Wei Sheng, Daryl, Afrina and Soo Wei Sheng. There are total of 11 production role. I wanted to be under the wardrobe or wardrobe supervisor but most of my team members already put my name under the acting which I don't really like it. We then chose to take Romeo and Juliet as it seems more easy and the dialog that the actors and actress must remember isn't that long. I'm kind of nervous as I had to act up as Juliet and I'm not that good in acting and also I'm not sure whether I could remember the dialog that I must remember. I think that nothing is impossible if I put in my best into it so does my team members. After that, Mr Chua gave us a piece of homework about the meaning of the production role that we must find in the internet and we are required to hand it up on the day Mr Chua told us to. Thursday We started about Elvis Presley. Before that, we got a set of paper about Elvis Presley. Mr Chua then introduced to us about the Elvis Presley. I already heard about Elvis before but not that much. Elvis Presley is an American singer which also had a nickname as 'The King of Rock and Roll'. He was charismatic and dynamic and his live shows were some of the first ever to make audiences scream hysterically. From that, I knew he was a famous singer during that time. His marriage with Priscilla Beaulieu failed due to some reasons and he died a bloated and depressed drug-addict surrounded by sleazy cronies in his Graceland mansion. He died on 1977, aged 42. He also had a daughter Lisa Marie who years later was briefly married to Michael Jackson but then didn't last long due to some reasons too. I'm a fan of Michael Jackson actually. Overall I think that he would be able to live longer if he had not been addicted to drugs. I also think that he didn't took the drugs with his own please but he might have face some problems that really depressed him. I guess that's it for the lessons. 5:26 PM  Term 2 week 10 Learning LogBefore the June holiday started which is about a few days before it, Mr Chua told us about the topics that we are going to learn after the June holidays. Basically the topics that we are going to learn are about Elvis Presley, 'Are you lonesome tonight', 'The Mighty Mandarin' and also a drama which is either 'Romeo and Juliet' or 'Merchant of Venice'. We will learn about it after the June holidays. |
